This initiative is a continuation from last year, but with a new community partner. Last year
Dr. Ivanic’s marketing research class worked with the manager of the Linda Vista Farmers
Market to expand the customer base by defining a clear research question, delivering a final
written report, and presenting their findings (and promotional materials) to the manager for
implementation. This year, the class is working with the San Diego Police Department
Western Division (based in Linda Vista) to determine what types of strategies could be used to
recruit and retain more police officers. This work involves exploring the SDPD culture and
environment, the skills and qualifications required, and the relations between the organization
and the local community, among other aspects.
