This project explores modes of engagement with Access Community Center. During Spring
2018 the idea is to use McDougal's "Program Design, Monitoring, and Evaluation" course as a
project-based learning platform for students, while simultaneously providing Access
Community Center with a high-quality evaluation of the impacts of one or more of its current
programs. Such an evaluation could then be used to secure the maintenance or expansion of
funding, as well as overall organizational effectiveness and self-awareness. This initiative
seeks to simultaneously deepen students' appreciation for intersecting (and sometimes
competing) interests, empirical messiness, and the importance of listening to and
understanding client needs.
